Hakushu Story of the Distillery - 2025 Edition Single Malt Japanese Whisky

The Whisky: A limited-edition single malt from Suntory’s forest-side Hakushu distillery, released as the second entry in a series celebrating the site’s 50-year history and its setting in the Southern Japanese Alps. It continues the 2024 concept of depicting the “distillery in the forest,” with Echizen washi paper label and packaging that show the distillery nestled in lush greenery, emphasising the connection between mountain water, cool high-altitude climate, and the light, gently smoky house style that has made Hakushu famous since the distillery’s founding in 1973.

Flavour Profile: A light amber colour and opens with aromas of pineapple, vanilla cream, and roasted green tea, carrying Hakushu’s signature bright-fruit and soft-smoke balance. On the palate it is light, soft, and mildly sweet, with flavours reminiscent of wasanbon sugar, a touch of bitterness, and a clean, gentle smokiness drawn from carefully selected peated Hakushu malt aged in bourbon barrels, finishing with lingering smoky embers and a subtle, bittersweet aftertaste.
