The Copita Glass (or catavinos) is a traditional Spanish sherry-tasting glass that serves as the historic predecessor to modern whisky nosing vessels. Defined by its tulip-shaped bowl, narrow rim, and slender stem, the copita is designed for clinical, analytical spirit assessment. The long stem prevents body heat from warming the liquid and keeps hand scents away from the nose, while the tapered opening traps delicate top notes. The Copital Glass is the standard choice for master blenders and cask-sampling laboratories.
Targeted Spirits: single malt and grain whiskies; Sherry, Port and Fortified wines, Eaux-de-Vie, fine brandies and artisanal spirits (e.g., high ester rums, cognac, armagnac and unaged fruit distilaltes)
