GlenAllachie Distillery, founded in 1967 by Mackinlay McPherson in Speyside near Aberlour, was originally built to supply malt whisky for blends. It was mothballed briefly in the mid-1980s before reopening under Campbell Distillers with expanded capacity. In 2017, whisky industry veteran Billy Walker, along with partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson, acquired GlenAllachie, forming The GlenAllachie Distillers Company. Since then, the distillery has shifted focus from blending to producing rich, fruity, and sherry-influenced single malts. Billy Walker’s expertise has guided the maturation process to emphasise sherry cask aging, resulting in bold, complex whiskies with intense flavours. The distillery's successful transformation from a blending-focused distillery into a globally recognised single malt producer is evident from its whiskies being name twice as the WWA World's Best Single Malt Whisky in the span of a few years under the leadership of Billy Walker.
