Benrinnes

Benrinnes Distillery, founded in 1826 by Peter MacKenzie near the Ben Rinnes mountain in Speyside, was destroyed by a flood in 1829 and rebuilt in 1835 by John Innes at a new site. It has changed ownership several times and was modernized after a fire in 1896. 

Benrinnes is known for its robust, full-bodied, and complex character, often described as meaty, sulfury, fruity, and spicy with layers of nuttiness and malt, imparted to a large extent by the use of traditional worm tub condensers in its distillation process, which reduces copper contact and allows more sulfur compounds and heavier elements are retained in the spirit, contributing to a richer, meatier, and fuller-bodied whisky.
